Why is WatchMyGear free?

Our aim is to build a base of organisations who enhance their businesses by using WatchMyGear, for free, as part of their regular workflow. For these organisations WatchMyGear, as you see it today, will always be free! In time, we may add premium features to customise WatchMyGear for specific industries.

Do I have to sign a long term contract?

No. There are no long term contracts or commitments on your part. You can cancel your account at any time from your account settings.

Can anyone come along and scan an asset and have access to the data?

No. A smartphone has to be logged into your company account to log any data. Reporting data cannot be accessed from the mobile platform.

Are there extra setup or installation fees?

Do I need any unique scanning hardware?

No, all you need is a common Android smartphone running Android 4.0 or higher.

Does WatchMyGear only work on Android?

Yes and No. The WatchMyGear mobile app is Android only but the web dashboard can be accessed on any device that has an internet connection.

Can I use my existing Barcodes?

Yes you can use your existing barcode that is attached to your asset.

What is the best Android mobile to use?

To ensure a quality experience in using WatchMyGear we recommend the following minimum considerations if you’re needing a new Android mobile.

  • Screen Size - no smaller than 4 inches
  • Operating System - 4.0 and 4.1 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is ok, 4.2 and 4.3 (Jelly Bean) is good and 4.4 (Kit Kat) is awesome
  • Processor - look for a dual or quad core with at least 1 GHZ.

Also make sure you can get accessories such as durable cases. If your company has a telco account manager, talk to them as most major carriers have a ‘rugged’ phone that can take the knocks and is water resistant if that is what you need.

Why doesn’t the WatchMyGear platform look or do what I thought it would?

If you are experiencing problems with the way the WatchMyGear platform looks or it doesn’t seem to have the same level of functionality that you expected, it might be due to the internet browser you are using.

We recommend Google Chrome to ensure the best user experience which you can download for free.

In addition current versions of Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer work well.

Internet Explorer 8 and 9 will work, but may be slow and will not provide all the bells and whistles.

How do I get my QR code stickers?

You can either order them direct through WatchMyGear from your account dashboard or download your own QR code stickers, again from your WatchMyGear account dashboard and get them printed at a label printing outlet or print them yourself on a thermal transfer label printer.

How big are the WatchMyGear QR code stickers?

There are two sizes of WatchMyGear QR Code stickers you can order. The larger size comes in sets of 4 and are 65mm x 80mm in size, perfect for larger assets such as portaloo's and skip bins. The smaller size comes in sets of 2 and are 50mm x 50mm.

How long should a WatchMyGear QR code sticker last?

The stickers are weatherproof for all elements. If your assets are outdoors, the sticker should last at least 12-18 months. If your assets are indoors, the sticker will last a lot longer.

How many QR code stickers do I need per asset?

We recommend up to 4 QR code stickers for large assets, each in a different location on the asset to ensure easy access of QR code sticker for scanning purposes. For smaller assets, we recommend 2 QR code stickers per asset.
